Taking off in the Beaver from McNeil River in the early '70s on a stormy day."
We bought the Beaver, N9762Z, in 1970. It had 2,000 hours when we got it and 18,000 on it when we sold it. I put 7,000 of those hours on it myuself. Went to Canada in 1996 and I don't know where it is now.
Someone asked me the other day if we'd had other airplanes and I felt a pang for those airplanes that I spent all that time in. I had the Goose of course, which I also loved, and the Widgeon, which was not as loveable and the 310 which was like having a Porsch, twice the speed of the Otter......but the de Havillands, the Beaver and the Otter, were my Home for thirty years.
But now we enjoying sharing our experience in Alaska flying a lovely Travel Air 6000B on sightseeing flights.
